Women have been breaking the norms and have beaten all the odds to become successful in every sphere of life. One such real gem of India is Ms. Pinky Anand who is presently working as the Additional Solicitor General of India. She is the second woman lawyer to be appointed to this post. A successful lawyer and an erudite speaker, she is well known for her active involvement in social issues and politics. Ms. Anand is married to a Delhi based practising lawyer.
Ms. Anand completed her graduation from Lady Shriram College and then her LLB from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She went to Harvard Law School for LLM. Ms. Anand has been active in politics since her college days. She was elected as the first woman Secretary of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in 1979-80 which marked the beginning of her journey with saffron brigade.
Ms. Pinky Anand was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2007. She is known to be expert in Constitutional Law, Property, Private International Law, Corporate Law, Family Law and Environmental Law. According to Ms. Anand, her life changing court case was when she appeared against reputed jurist L. M. Singhvi and eventually won. Her leading cases include representing French Government in the case of Clemenceau; constitutional right of freedom and expression for South Indian actress Khushboo; fighting against GM Food invasion.
Being well known speaker in International and National Conferences, she is representing the country in the formation of BRICS Legal Forum. She has served as the head of All India Legal Cell at BJP, Additional Advocate General for the state of Uttarakhand, Vice President of Bar Association of India, Chairperson of National Committee Law, ASSOCHAM Ladies League, etc.
She has received many awards including 19th Bharat Nirman Award for excellence in Law in 2007; French National Order of Merit from the President of the French Republic; Award for excellence in Law 2009, by FICCI FLO for outstanding contribution in the field of Law. She is also a recipient of Women Achievers Award from the International Association of Lion Clubs.
